Wrestling team departs for state tournament

On Feb. 19, wrestling is being sent off to state.

Students and staff gathered outside of Randall this morning in celebration of the boys’ wrestling team. The team, riding in a white CISD bus and escorted by two police vehicles, departed for Houston this morning where they will compete this weekend in the state tournament.

This comes following the regional meet in El Paso last week where 13 of the 14 man Raider lineup qualified to compete. The Raiders won the Regional Championship after scoring a total of 261 points, nearly 120 points ahead of second place, the Dumas Demons.

In addition to their first place showing at regionals, the team also collected first place at the Feb. 7-8 district tournament at Palo Duro High School. At district, 9 of the 14 man lineup finished in first place and the team scored an overall 300.5 points, giving them repeat district titles.
