CISD Releases Information About Graduation Plans

Due to Covid-19, CISD has made alternate plans for graduation.

Since the pandemic began, CISD Superintendent Darryl Flusche has said that the district is committed to honoring this year’s graduates. In a video released yesterday on CISD’s Facebook Page, Flusche laid out this plan.

Flusche said that he is still “holding out for that opportunity that (the district) will be able to have a live graduation ceremony sometime in the summer.” However, in addition, the district has planned a special ceremony for this year’s senior class to happen before May 22.

On May 12, Randall seniors will report to the school at different times during the day to walk across the stage in the West Auditorium and receive their diploma. Up to four family members or guests will be permitted to join each senior. During this time, Western Photo will take a professional photo of each senior, and attendees will be allowed to take their own photos. In addition, the district has hired a videography company to record each senior receiving their diploma. The company will later combine all footage to create one, single graduation video which will be aired May 22 at 5 p.m. for all friends and family members to see.

Seniors can expect to receive a call in the upcoming days detailing specific information about when and where they will need to report.

“Seniors, we want to celebrate you,” Flusche said in the video. “We want to make this memory valuable for you.”
