The Lady Raider varsity volleyball team gathers at center court during the Sept. 10 home game against Borger.

The Lady Raider varsity volleyball team will face Hereford Tuesday in what is expected to be their toughest district match to date. The game will be at Randall at 7 pm, following the freshman game at 5 p.m. and junior varsity at 6 p.m.

The results of the match will determine whether the Raiders or Whitefaces will take the lead in district. With round one of district play nearly complete, the Raiders will face each district team twice before playoffs begin at the end of October.

The Whitefaces are 5-0 in district and 26-6 overall. The Raiders, who are also 5-0 in district but 24-8 for the season, are coming off a win streak after winning their last 13 consecutive matches and defeating CISD rivals Canyon Saturday 3-0 and West Plains last Tuesday 3-0.

“I am incredibly proud of this team and this Randall community,” Randall head coach Haleigh Burns said. “These girls work hard every day to represent Randall in the best way possible. They are focused and driven to keep Randall the elite program that it has always been. I have great leaders that lead with love and support for their teammates. This group embodies Raider mentality and I love being their coach.”

Burns said the team’s goal this year is to be district champs and to win a state championship.

“The girls talk about it every practice and work tirelessly to improve daily, to be mentally tough and to play together as a team,” Burns said.
