Often times when reading, I find myself completely engulfed in the story and when it’s over, sadness washes over me. I recently finished The Circle Series by Ted Dekker and wasn’t sure what to feel. It was definitely a different kind of series. It was something so out of the ordinary that it was genius. Logically, you have Book One in a series, then Book Two and so on. Dekker goes beyond logic and dives into insane by making a book zero- Green, book one- Black, book two- Red and book three- White. You can either read book zero first or last. Who ever heard of a series where you can start or end with one book? When I started the series, book zero, or Green hadn’t been released yet, so I started with book one, Black. It is about a man named Thomas Hunter who falls asleep in our world, and wakes up in a future world, and vice-versa. His sleeping pattern forms a circle. Hence the name: “The Circle Series”. Different problems occur in each world and each decision that Hunter makes will be vital in both realities. Then I moved to Book Two, Red. This book is the same story line filled with betrayal unlike anything Hunter has ever seen. Book Three, White, is about Salvation within realities. Book zero, Green, is about the intoxicating presence of God. Each novel title is symbolism for the focus of the book. If you are like me, a “book worm” and you love analyzing stories, and diving as deep as you can into every book you read, then I recommend these books completely. Ted Dekker deserves the utmost praise and respect for providing the world with such an amazing story that can relate to people all around the world.
