The Raider Rundown: Recap on Fall Sports

With the first semester wrapping up, fall sports are coming to an end. Here is your recap of what happened or is happening in Raider sports.

Football: The football team is working toward winning their first playoff game this season. The boys will face off with Fort Worth Southwest on Friday Dec. 11. The team will play at Herman Clark Stadium in Fort Worth. Kickoff will be at 6 p.m. The Raiders finished third in district behind Lubbock Cooper and Wichita Falls Rider with a 4-5 record.

Cross Country: The Raider Cross Country team is no stranger to the state meet. This year was no different with the girls team placing sixth at state tournament in Round Rock on Nov. 21.

Volleyball: After winning three playoff games, the volleyball season came to an end Dec. 1 with a 13-25, 19-25 and 14-25 loss to Denton in the Regional Semi-Finals.  The season ended with a 7-3 district record, and a 15-5 overall record.

Golf: The Fall golf season came to an end in early November. The five member varsity boys’ team placed in the top three teams in each tournament played. The boys and girls will have time to relax this winter before starting back up in February for the Spring season.

Tennis: The tennis season came to an end with a 2-10 loss against Amarillo High in the Regional Finals. “I am so proud of our Raiders,” coach Darby Norman said. “Per tradition, our team fought hard, overachieved, and had a great run in the playoffs.” Like golf, the tennis team will have some time off before starting Spring competition next semester.
