One Act Play Wins State Championship

Wrestling Team Competes at State Duals

Wrestling Team Captain, State Champion in One Act Play, AP student, in the top 5% of her class: these sound like accomplishments of a very busy senior. However, sophomore Avery Stout continues to prove that big things come in small packages.

Avery has managed to accumulate achievements during only two years in high school. During her freshman year, Avery competed in both wrestling and theater at the varsity level, sometimes even over the same weekend. Avery said her involvement in these activities takes up a lot of her time.

“I go to wrestling practice in the mornings and after school,” Avery said. “I do a lot of homework, and then I end my day with theater rehearsal.”

Avery is currently taking college Biology as well as all Pre-AP core classes. Outside of school and extracurriculars, Avery works at S&J Coffee for about 12 hours a week. 

“Avery is very hardworking,” theater teacher Brooklynn James said. “Even when she’s exhausted, she gives 100%.”

Avery continues to add things to her plate; she goes to Speech and Debate tournaments, hikes in Palo Duro Canyon, and serves her community through a group that makes around 400 lunches for the homeless every two weeks.

“Avery commits herself to Randall High School in a way that is second to none,” wrestling coach David Quirino said. “She is a dedicated student-athlete.”
