Special Education Teacher: Gidget Colbert
Special education teacher Gidget Colbert has been working at Randall for three years. Before pursuing a job in education, she worked in office management writing contracts for construction companies.
¨I wanted to go into the education setting because God lead me here,” Colbert said. “My daughter is special needs. I want to help make a difference in a child’s life.”
Colbert main job is to help the students learn in an entertaining way and she helps with teachers task that need to be done. Not only does Colbert have a passion for teaching, but she has a small rescue farm for farm animals.
“My favorite part about working here is the students,” Colbert said. “I love to see how each student grows with each passing year. That includes academically and socially.”
Colbert graduated from Randall and she said she had some amazing teachers so she was blessed when she was offered the job.
“My favorite memory as a teacher is watching a student achieve something that they have worked very hard for,” Colbert said. “My goal is to help as many students as I can. I was led to this job; it’s now a passion.”
Spencer Maddox is a senior, and this is his second year on the newspaper staff. Maddox said he wanted to be on newspaper staff because it sounded fun.
