During the summer many movies caught my eye, specifically, Jurassic World: Rebirth. It came to theaters July 2 and I watched it as soon as possible. As someone who has seen every movie in the franchise, I was disappointed. I was expecting a more developed movie.
The timeline of this movie was five years after Jurassic World: Dominion on the island Isla Saint-Hubert. The objective of the main protagonists, Zora Bennet (Scarlett Johansson) and Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey), was to harvest DNA from titan dinosaurs to help create a cure to heart disease. During the movie, they join forces with a stranded civilian family. On top of all they were doing already, they had to fight off mutant dinosaurs, such as the D-Rex and Mutadons, on top of Spinosauruses and jungle perils.
This movie has a game-line mission structure. Even though I did not like most things about the movie, I really enjoyed how it didn’t have an over-reliance of nostalgia. I feel that the authors were trying to make the movie original, to the point that they didn’t truly make the most of the movie itself. I did appreciate the visuals throughout the movie though.
While watching the movie, I noticed it was fast-paced and rushed even though it was a two-hour movie. Because of the way it was produced, it seemed like some of the main characters in the movie were just fillers and had no point in being there, and instead wasted time that could’ve been used for a more thought out plot.
Even though the movie has a 51% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it had a grossing of $318 million worldwide its opening weekend. I had mixed feelings about the movie, so I feel that it is based on personal preference on if you like it or not. If you do want to watch the movie, you could watch it in theaters, or if you want to watch it at home, you can rent or buy on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, or Fandango At Home.

Totally agree. I think they should’ve leaned into the horror in the movie. For a series that has for the most part been about the mistakes of trying to play god, there was much less of a focus than I would’ve liked on the Mutadons and D-Rex. I think they definitely should’ve leaned into an analogue horror type of vibe. IMO that would’ve made the movie so much cooler.

This was a good movie I mean it followed Jurassic park 3 and it was a little undeveloped but overall all are good movies and who are we to complain with them being the only good dino franchise on earth and with the first movie having ground breaking CGI
