At the end of March 2026, theaters were packed with amazing releases like Pixar’s Hoppers, the terrifying Scream 7, and the excitement of Goat. Yet, one film managed to fly by all the competition: Project Hail Mary, which hit theaters March 20, and instantly became a must see sci-fi movie.
Science teacher Ryland Grace, played by Ryan Gosling, wakes up on a spaceship far away from home with no memory of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to remember his mission: solve the reason for what’s causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unusual ideas to save Earth from extinction. While he’s on this mission, he meets an unexpected guest.
The effects and the visuals in this movie were phenomenal. They create an uplifting experience for the viewer and truly show the emotions and sacrifices the movie is trying to convey. Using the “no green screen” approach creates a very immersive space environment throughout the movie. We really appreciated how accurate it was to the book, and how they managed to present the emotional stakes.
The movie really captures the comedy and the dense science that author Andy Weir put into the book. Despite many details from the book were left out of the movie, like the Me-Burgers, aren’t shown in the movie, the recreation of the book is astonishing.
Project Hail Mary has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 95% and an IMDb rating of 8.4/10. It has a growing income of $330.4 million worldwide, and $140.9 million its opening weekend globally. We absolutely love this move, and recommend it as your next watch. If you want to watch it, you can currently go see it in theaters, but once released out of theaters, it’ll be available on Amazon Prime.
