Speech & Debate Team Finishes Second in Boom-Town Tournament

The speech and debate team competed in the first tournament of the year Sept. 24, where they placed second.

The team has been preparing for this tournament, the Boomtown Speech & Debate Tournament in Borger, since school started.

“The Raider Speech and Debate Team is off to an amazing start for the year,”  Speech and Debate Teacher Brooklyn James said. “I am so proud of my students. They continually push each other to be the absolute best. This is going to be a great year for us because of the leadership, hard work and encouragement shown across the team.”

These are the Randall placements in individual events:

Prose- 4th place- Sydney Gove

Poetry- 1st place- Emma Adams-Feland, 2nd place- Renae Phelps, Durand Carson-5th place, Sydney Gove-6th place

Poi- 1st place- Emma Adams-Feland, 3rd place- Sydney Tatom, 4th place – Zaylee Carson, 5th place Carmen Guajardo

Di- 4th place- Emma Adams-Feland, 6th place- Zaylee Carson

Hi- 6th place- Sydney Tatom

Informative- 1st place- Luke Brown

Domestic Extemp- 2nd place- Luke Brown, 3rd place-James Amundgaard

Foreign Extemp- 6th place Daniel Auburn

Original Oratory – 4th place- James Amundgaard

The team will compete again Oct. 21-22 at WTAMU.
