As spring gets closer and closer, and more Randall High School sports keep winning state, you have to start to wonder about Randall baseball. This year Randall baseball is a very senior led team with the whole infield being seniors who have been on varsity since their sophomore years. Seniors include –  Kole Dudding, AJ Lucero, Payton Bush, OJ Beltran, Alex Massey, Kaden Juarez, Mason Gilbert, Duncan Bowles, Logan Tice, and Michael Santiago. Returning juniors for the Raiders are Hagen Shedd, Andrew Ramos, and Carson Haffner.

Last year, Randall baseball had one of their best teams in a while. Overall finishing 27-9 and 14-1 in district. In the playoffs, Randall stormed through Lubbock Monterey in the first round and Canutillo in the second round. In the third round, Randall met up with the number one ranked team in Texas, Lubbock Cooper. Both coaches before the game would agree that whoever took this series would most likely go on to play for state. The Raiders and Pirates had an epic three game battle. Game one was a drama felt game that went deep into the night, but in the end the Raiders pulled through. You could say game two was event more exhilarating, going into extra innings, but the Pirates took it home for themselves. In game three Lubbock Cooper won and advanced themselves onto the next round.

“This year, we expect nothing short of a State Championship!”

Well that was last year, and was also 5A. With the addition of West Plains High School, Randall has been dropped down to 4A, and with a better team than last year, Randall believes they can go a long way on the road to a State Championship. This senior led team has been playing baseball with each other for a long time, and they definitely have the heart and desire to put the 2023 season above all the rest. Randall baseball will be the team to watch this year.
