Boys’ Basketball Team Is State Bound

For the first time in school history, the Randall varsity boys’ basketball team has punched their ticket to state.

It was a big weekend for the team, who defeated Lubbock Estacado, 69-55, Friday to win the regional semi finals and advance to the regional finals against Canyon the following day.

The Raiders took the court against their rival sister school Saturday in Lubbock, where the Raiders defeated the Eagles, 58-44, to earn their ticket to state.

The Raiders (28-9) will play Oak Cliff Faith (31-3) at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio this Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the state semi finals.

The state championship game will be played the following day at 7 p.m.

“I am thrilled that we finally punched the ticket to get to play in the State tournament,” head coach Leslie Broadhurst said. “Our guys have worked so hard and it is very gratifying to see them experience this kind of success.  We are going to go play hard for Raider Nation.”
