Time’s Up on the Hollywood Red Carpet

All-black fashions hit the red carpet at the Golden Globes in protest of sexual harassment from predators working in the entertainment business. The celebrities’ dark wardrobes symbolized the end of the line for the accused men and women who used the industry and those in it for malicious purposes. Women came together and wore their dresses for a purpose and gave many speeches that night for the rights of women in the business that have been victims of sexual harassment. A number of men supporting the protest chose to dress in classy black suits.

Oprah Winfrey gave a speech about the injustice that night and gender equality between the people of the film and music industry. The protesters’ dresses were auctioned off, and proceeds were donated to the #MeToo and Time’s Up campaigns to continue supporting victims of sexual violence. The people of Hollywood are finally taking a stand but looking pretty and selling clothes may not be enough. Each day more men in the film industry are being added to the list of famous assaulters. James Franco and Melanie Martinez were recently named as some of the many men and women who hurt others in this crime.

It is yet to be determined if justice will ever be served to the accused people. It is possible they may never lose their jobs and fans despite these horrible accusations.
