The Field of Dreams, made in 1989, is one of the best baseball movies of all time. Field of Dreams was nominated for Best Picture, Best Writing, and Best Music at the 1990 USA Academy Awards. Directed by Phil Alden Robinson and written by W. P. Kinsella, who also wrote a novel about Shoeless Joe Jackson, a character in the movie based off a real baseball player.  The story follows a man named Ray, played by Kevin Costner, who is also known for his appearance in Dances with Wolves, which takes place on a corn farm with his family in Iowa. One night while Ray is walking through his corn field he hears a strange voice call to him out of nowhere “If you build it, he will come.” Ray believes this voice so much that he decides to tear down some of his corn and replace it by building a full baseball field. Despite everyone else’s beliefs that he is going crazy and is also going to lose his farm, he continues to tear down his corn field and build a baseball field in the hopes that whatever ghost is calling out to him is real. With a budget of 15 million USD, the baseball field built for the movie is absolutely amazing, with the outfield fence being represented by an endless field of corn. Ray is then led on what seems to be a wild goose chase by the voice calling to him, while he and is family are also being pushed by the government to sell the farm, because he will no longer be able to afford the house after cutting down almost all of his corn crop. I personally love this movie and would tell you that it is definitely worth the watch because I really like the plot and the story line. It is really weird how Ray hears this voice no one else hears, calling to just him. He can’t say no to the voice because how could a person resist this strong gut feeling. He also wants to know who and what the voice is talking about. The movie shows how even if everyone is telling you can’t do something and that it will never work out, if you believe in something so much and you really try to make it work, anything can be done. The ending is just beautiful and a warmhearted scene that will definitely make people tier up. The movie was so good and such a big baseball movie that last year the MLB, Major League Baseball, played a regular season game on the same baseball field that Ray builds in the movie between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox. Nearly 6 million viewers tuned in for the game and it was a big hit for the MLB. This is definitely one of those movies that makes you sit down on the couch with your family, while you watch a classic old baseball movie.
